Coalition Calls For Strong Farm Safety Net in Farm Bill

During the recent farm bill process, MTA worked on behalf of the Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau (CIRB) to organize a coalition of 50 commodity groups, lending organizations and other agricultural stakeholders to work together to preserve strong crop insurance protection for America’s farmers and ranchers. The coalition sent a letter to Congress expressing support for crop insurance and opposition to amendments that would limit its effectiveness. The letter urged Congress to reject amendments that discourage producer participation or undermine private sector delivery. Bringing together these diverse groups on behalf of a cause that they can find common ground in strengthens crop insurance’s voice in Washington. Click here to read the full letter.
