Thursday, October 8th, 2020

Michael Torrey Associates has promoted Barbara Patterson to the position of Vice President. As Vice President, Barbara will continue to lead clients in the food, agriculture and nutrition sectors through these challenging times.

“Barbara has worked diligently during the past two years to help elevate our clients’ issues in and outside of the Beltway,” said Michael Torrey, Principal of MTA. “Her understanding of food policy issues as well as the challenges in the animal health and security sector have made her a great asset to the MTA team and our clients.”

Prior to joining MTA in 2018, Barbara worked as Government Relations Director for National Farmers Union where she advocated for family farmers, ranchers, and rural communities in Congress and the executive branch. She focused on trade, livestock, competition, nutrition, and food safety. Patterson also managed a cooperative agreement with the Food and Drug Administration to provide education and outreach to local food producers and processors on implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Barbara received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, as well as Masters of Science degree in Agriculture and Nutrition Policy from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University.
