Options Clearing Corporation: Helping Shape Policy for Futures and Options
Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organization, operates under the jurisdiction of two regulatory agencies: the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which is under the oversight of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees.
OCC needed a government relations firm to monitor developments affecting futures and options policy and to provide timely strategic advice on issues that would impact the corporation’s business. The challenge became especially acute during the debates on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
We actively tracked legislative and regulatory developments during the debate over the Dodd-Frank financial regulatory reform legislation. We followed the deliberations, provided timely advice on issues of concern and offered strategic guidance on issues before the Agriculture Committees.
We helped OCC develop productive relationships with members of congressional committees that resulted in positioning the corporation as a thoughtful, credible expert in the eyes of committee members.
OCC says our team is conscientious and responsive, and exceeded their expectations in providing guidance and advice. OCC continues to work with us on the implementation of Dodd-Frank regulations, as well as other legislative and regulatory initiatives affecting the options and futures industry.
