Growing up as part of the agricultural industry gave me a deep-rooted appreciation for how things can transform over time. On my family’s farm in Kansas, that looked like planting a crop in the spring and watching it grow throughout the seasons — starting as a single seed and transforming into part of a bountiful harvest. However, farming today looks a lot different than it did in my grandfather’s generation — as we’ve learned more, we’ve done better. We’ve made significant investments in technology, conservation, and efficiency.
The lessons learned growing up on a farm about transformation and adapting to the changing times have served as the foundation of Michael Torrey Associates. In 2005, we started with one client and a vision to serve the food and agriculture industry with honesty and dedication. While that sentiment holds true today, the firm has expanded to reflect the growth of the industry and the diversity of the supply chain. Now is the time for our brand to represent our commitment to continued growth, and that’s why I am proud to announce our new name – The Torrey Advisory Group.
This industry is not what it was 20 years ago. To truly serve clients, our approach and the ways we provide value must be consistent with the current state of the political, economic, and social landscape. From production to risk management to the sale of products, effectiveness in the food and agriculture space can only be achieved through a dynamic and nimble approach. We are no longer just a lobbying firm. As the needs of our clients have evolved, we have too, providing additional services to ensure their organization has the structure, vision, and expertise to remain successful for years to come.
Growing up on a farm also taught me the importance of working as a team. While it sounds simple, the dynamic created by a group of people can make or break any business. At Torrey Advisory Group, it is truly about the team and how a collective group of people can come together, using their unique experience and perspective to create value for those we serve. The emphasis we place on the team is something that I am very proud of, and I believe should be reflected in our brand. After all, it’s the people that have been the catalyst for success throughout the years.
As the firm experience’s growth and change, I fully recognize that while it started with one person and a big dream, it’s bigger than that now, it’s bigger than just Michael Torrey. I hope that our new name, Torrey Advisory Group, signifies the breadth of experience we bring to our clients and our continued commitment to the food, agricultural and forestry industry.
